AUGUSTINE PARISH BUILDING RESTORATION FUND GOALS:

Sixty-two years ago, the Society for the Preservation and Restoration of Old St. Augustine was formed by Rev. Walden Pell and prominent parishioners including Allaire du Pont. Money was raised, a Reiger pipe organ was installed, and many historic items were donated. The restoration was extensive resulting in a major rejuvenation of St. Augustine Church as a place of worship in rural Cecil County, MD.

Today, in 2024, this important landmark, active church and cemetery are in need of significant work to restore and preserve them for generations to come as one of the most historic churches in the Delmarva region.  Although ongoing repairs and needed maintenance have been funded by church members over the years, the current restoration needs are beyond the parish’s resources. To achieve this goal, we, the Vestry and clergy of Augustine Parish, have established a 3-phase Capital Campaign to raise the funds necessary to preserve, protect, and provide long-term sustainability for our historic church and grounds. To donate to the Restoration Fund, click on the button at the top of this page, send a check payable to Augustine Parish Building Fund, PO Box 487, Chesapeake City, MD 21915, or scan the QR code below.

The goal of the desired work is to restore and preserve St. Augustine Church, ensuring it remains available to serve the community and for future generations:       1. As a place of weekly worship and venue for weddings, events, and funerals       2. Providing community space for organ recitals and other musical and seasonal events. 3. Preserving this historic and idyllic landmark for reflection and enjoyment by the community.
